# COINLANDER

There Can Only Be One.

COINLANDER is an interactive experiment in the design and development of community gaming primitives, including the Seeker characters and The One Coin artifact.

COINLANDER begins with Season One, a collection of gameified token minting contracts that culminates in a puzzle game with a 64 ETH prize purse. The Season One game is fully developed and deployed at contract deployment — none of the game contracts or game mechanics can ever be changed, and no "road map" needs to be developed for the prize purse to unlock at the end of the game.

*Welcome to the world of immutable gaming.*

### COINLANDER's collectible token-based world is defined by three key parts:

1. [**Customizable Characters**](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers) **-** NFT-RPG character primitives known as [*Seekers*](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers).&#x20;
2. [**The Vault Puzzle Contest**](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-vault) **-** An independent and immutable contract that mints all the gaming primitives, with a 64 ETH prize purse at the end.
3. [**The Games**](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-games) **-** Upcoming Multiplayer Cycle-Time Strategy Games that utilize [Seekers](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers).

[To power the COINLANDER universe](/coinlander-season-one-guide/shard), players compete to seize and hold [*The One Coin*](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-one-coin); a unique artifact of ever-increasing value.

[The player who holds *The One Coin* in the end](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-one-coin/the-sweet-release) will forever be known as....

# Migrating to Arbitrum

The Coinlander team chose the Arbitrum Layer 2 network due to its significantly reduced transaction fees, faster transaction times and its growing popularity as a general purpose smart contract chain.

## Setting up your wallet

{% hint style="info" %}
This guide assumes that you already know how to use the MetaMask extension wallet and have this wallet funded with Eth. If this is new to you, please see this helpful guide for setting up and funding your wallet: [Getting Started with MetaMask](https://metamask.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015489531-Getting-started-with-MetaMask)
{% endhint %}

### Add Arbitrum to MetaMask&#x20;

Our website should prompt you to add Arbitrum as a Network to your MetaMask extension when you arrive. If for some reason that didn't work, you can add it manually:&#x20;

1. Click on the MetaMask extension
2. Click on “Ethereum Mainnet” network at the top -> click on “Add Network” at the bottom of the menu, and enter the following in the tab that appears:

   **Network Name:** Arbitrum\
   **RPC:** <https://arb1.arbitrum.io/rpc\\>
   **Chain ID:** 42161\
   **Currency Symbol:** ETH\
   **Block Explorer URL:** <https://arbiscan.io>

### Bridge Eth to the Arbitrum Network

{% hint style="info" %}
Bridge more Eth than will be necessary to do what you want so that you can also pay for transaction (gas) costs. On average, gas fees on Arbitrum are between 0.0001 and 0.0008 Eth. For example, if you're planning on summoning a Seeker for 0.05 Eth, bridge up 0.06 Eth to cover gas fees.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

By "bridging" assets, you are moving them between blockchain networks (likely from Ethereum Mainnet to Arbitrum). The official Arbitrum Bridge can be found here: [Arbitrum Bridge](https://bridge.arbitrum.io/)

If you need help bridging, please follow along with their tutorial: [Arbitrum Bridge Tutorial](https://arbitrum.io/bridge-tutorial/)

### You're ready!

After waiting the requisite time for your assets to bridge (as of writing, 10 minutes), you should see that you have an Ether balance on the Arbitrum network within MetaMask. &#x20;

# The One Coin

"An artifact of immense value and power, bequeathing the title of Coinlander"

The Season One game revolves around a singular artifact: The One Coin. Holding this One Coin grants the holder the title of Coinlander and with it, certain rewards. The One Coin follows five laws...

## There can only be one

*Only one Coinlander exists. Only one Coinlander will ever exist.*&#x20;

There is only one token that empowers someone to be the Coinlander and only one will ever exist. It is a singular NFT with special restrictions built into the logic of the game’s smart contract.&#x20;

## It can only be seized by force

*The One Coin can only be had by seizing it from its current holder. And rest assured… Others seek the power of the Coinlander for themselves.*

The One Coin can be seized by someone who pledges more than the previous person. This cannot be stopped or defended; upon seizure, the token is transferred from the current holder to the new Coinlander. All previous holders of The One Coin are immortalized at The Keeper's Shrine.

## As it is seized it shall grow

*Each time the One Coin is seized it grows in size, value, and power.*

The price of the One Coin is fixed according to a pre-set model. As it appreciates in value over multiple seizures, game mechanics, rewards, and player benefits which have been built into the smart contract are unlocked.&#x20;

## All those who have hedl shall be rewarded

*The Keeper’s blessings are bequeathed upon the Seekers who have held the coin. By taking the pilgrimage back to the Keeper’s Shrine, the Keepers shall re-forge the scraps of Coinlander that shed as it was taken so that you may seize again.*&#x20;

Any player who has had the Coinlander seized from them is rewarded by the world. They receive back the pledge they made for the One Coin, and are given an in-game resource called Shard. Additionally, the player receives an in-game character token known as a Seeker.&#x20;

## Only one shall hodl it

*There shall come a day when the One Coin can no longer grow. On this day, the One Coin shall be bequeathed to the last and final Coinlander; a day known only as the Sweet Release.*

After being seized a certain number of times, the One Coin becomes untethered from the game contract's restrictive logic. At this point, it can no longer be seized by force and becomes a standard collectible/tradable/sellable NFT. This momentous occasion triggers numerous in-game mechanics which reward all players of Coinlander: Season One.&#x20;

# Seizing the One Coin

The One Coin can be seized by any player by paying the Seize price on the Shrine page.&#x20;

Each time *The One Coin* is seized, three events occur:&#x20;

1. The Player that seizes *The One Coin* becomes COINLANDER
2. The Player that *was* Coinlander can mint tokens including a [*Seeker* ](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers)NFT with stronger than normal on-chain [attributes ](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/seeker-attributes)and customizable cosmetics.
3. The [Vault's ](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-vault/unlocking-the-vault)prize grows, winnable by a player who unlocks it after the [Sweet Release](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-one-coin/the-sweet-release)

The player who holds The One Coin is known as "The Coinlander."&#x20;

The player who makes the 1111th seizure will HODL the One Coin and activate the Sweet Release.

## Price Schedule of the One Coin

The One Coin follows a strict price schedule up until its last seizure at #1111.&#x20;

**Starting price:**             0.05 Eth\
**Appreciation Rate:**      0.06%<br>

![](/files/iUBJR4tMDjFNtsmBMU7N)

## Writing on the Wall

When you successfully seize The One Coin and become Coinlander, you can leave a message on the steps to the Keepers' Shrine for all to see. This message is stored in perpetuity on the Shrine and cannot be changed once the holder has lost the title of Coinlander\*.\
\
*\*The window to write on the wall is active for 1 hour after seizure, regardless of subsequent seizures. Be sure you write your message within that hour!*

# Claiming Rewards

Former Coinlander, claim what is yours

Once another player seizes The One Coin from you, you may return to the Shrine to claim your rewards, which includes your initial stake (minus small fees) and awarded game tokens.&#x20;

Please note that all rewards transactions may require network or gas fees.

## Returned Stake

A former Coinlander player can reclaim the amount of ETH they staked to seize The One Coin, less a 1% cut that contractually ensures the 64 ETH prize pool at the end of Season One.

## Seekers

**Birth a Seeker:** Every time The One Coin changes hands, a former champion of ancient times is reborn. These Seekers wish to pledge their allegiance to you, the erstwhile Coinlander. You can claim your Seeker NFT after the Coinlander is seized from you, but not before.

**Summon a Seeker:** At certain times it will be possible to [mint Seeker NFTs](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/minting-seekers) independently and without seizing The One Coin. However, Seekers born of The One Coin are deterministically stronger than Seekers summoned directly.

## Mint Shard &#x20;

As The One Coin grows in power, it sheds some excess every time it is seized. The essence of this power is captured and manifested as [Shard](/coinlander-season-one-guide/shard), an in-game resource. You are rewarded Shard when The One Coin is seized from you in an amount proportional to the price you paid for The One Coin. A player receives 1 Shard plus an additional bonus shard for each 0.5 Eth increment in One Coin price. For example, if you seized the One Coin for 0.4 ETH, you will be rewarded 1 Shard; if you seize for 0.6 ETH or 0.9 ETH, you will be rewarded 2 Shard; and so on.

# Events

The game has prefixed events which are triggered by seizure count

Events are immutably programmed into the Season One game contracts that trigger at increments of 111 seizures.

<table><thead><tr><th width="150" align="center">Seizure #</th><th align="center">Event</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td align="center">111</td><td align="center">Pre-Launch Winners Announced</td></tr><tr><td align="center">222</td><td align="center">Post-Launch Winners Announced</td></tr><tr><td align="center">333</td><td align="center"><a href="/pages/SWxq5FPxkpdx4NG79Aw2">Seeker Release #1 </a></td></tr><tr><td align="center">444</td><td align="center"><a href="/pages/RdfkS0Mz3nmaR5PbQm7L">Cloaking Ceremony</a></td></tr><tr><td align="center">555</td><td align="center"><a href="/pages/OtG73w8R0iO4V7G6ziTr">Shard Becomes Spendable</a></td></tr><tr><td align="center">666</td><td align="center"><a href="/pages/SWxq5FPxkpdx4NG79Aw2">Seeker Release #2</a>, <a href="/pages/qNoe9jke02ME5Z9viceI">Evils Only</a></td></tr><tr><td align="center">777</td><td align="center"><a href="/pages/SWxq5FPxkpdx4NG79Aw2">Seeker Release #3</a>,<a href="/pages/qNoe9jke02ME5Z9viceI"> Evils Only ends, Goods Only starts</a>, Seekers released on each seizure hereafter</td></tr><tr><td align="center">888</td><td align="center">Goods Only ends </td></tr><tr><td align="center">999</td><td align="center">...well??</td></tr><tr><td align="center">1111</td><td align="center"><a href="/pages/03r7dEK5vQM76WAi4rfW">The Sweet Release</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

# The Sweet Release

Upon the triggering of the Sweet Release, many things happen:&#x20;

* The trade and transfer restrictions on the One Coin token are removed — it can now be traded, sold or transferred by the current holder, like any other collectible NFT.
  * Even though future Seasons may look very different from Season One, The One Coin is and will always be an artifact of immense value and power within the Coinlander universe.
* The Final Coinlander, the one who triggers the Sweet Release, is given the Coinlander Seeker, a Seeker born with maximum Attribute Points and Power.
* The Prize Pool is transferred to the Vault and becomes claimable by whoever reassembles The Key.
* Shardbags are airdropped to all Seekers. More Shard!

# Shard

Shard are an in-game resource represented as SFTs rewarded for seizing the One Coin. To get Shard from the game see:&#x20;

{% content-ref url="/pages/XpwbWtAPj7T6b01ZoUHj" %}
[Seizing the One Coin](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-one-coin/seizing-the-one-coin)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/iAEGJlyZwLOBAMgq7QDU" %}
[Claiming Rewards](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-one-coin/claiming-rewards)
{% endcontent-ref %}

At the 555th seizure, Shard will become redeemable. Redeeming Shard permanently destroys it by burning the token in exchange for one of the following:&#x20;

1. Adding [Power ](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/seeker-attributes/seeker-power)to a Seeker
2. Minting [Fragments ](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-vault/key-fragments)to build The Key to unlock the Keepers Vault
3. Making an offering to the Ledgerman for a future reward&#x20;

# Shard Tokenomics

There is not a hard cap on the number of Shard that can exist, but there is a theoretical maximum of 91,238. The sources of shard are threefold:&#x20;

1. Shard created from seizures of the One Coin (13,350)&#x20;
2. Shard from the Shardbags, airdropped at the Sweet Release to each Seeker (max 77,777)
3. Keeper Shard, mintable by the Coinlander dev team for giveaways and community incentives (111)&#x20;

As the One Coin is seized, more new Shard is created. Because of this, Shard begins as an inflationary token. However, after the 555th seizure, Shard becomes redeemable and burnable so its supply will fluctuate.&#x20;

## Shard from Seizures

After each seizure, the previous Coinlander can visit the Shrine page on the Coinlander website to claim their rewards, including Shard. The number of Shard rewarded to them is proportional to the price they pledged to seize The One Coin. Each Coinlander is guaranteed one Shard and an additional Shard for each 0.5 ETH increment in the seizure price.&#x20;

![](/files/ykOg6PQ9r0t1N9GygxPN)

The maximum reward is 77 Shard on last seizure which triggers the Sweet Release.&#x20;

## Shardbags Airdrop

At the Sweet Release, every Seeker is given a Shardbag which will contain a random number of shard. Each Shardbag can contain anywhere from 1 to 7 Shard. The number of Shard inside can be revealed when you get it appraised. After you appraise your Shardbag, the Shard inside will be immediately minted and sent to your wallet.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
The Shardbag is claimable on a per-Seeker basis and moves with the Seeker. If you trade a Seeker without appraising its Shardbag, their new owner will have the option to appraise the bag and claim the Shard inside.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

# Spending Shard

{% hint style="warning" %}
Spending Shard is a **permanent and irreversible** on-chain interaction.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

## Add Power to your Seeker

Shard can be burnt to add Power to Seeker.&#x20;

**1 Shard = 8 Power**

See Seeker Power for more details:&#x20;

{% content-ref url="/pages/dSAqpRrnC9UBSijt0SaH" %}
[Seeker Power](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/seeker-attributes/seeker-power)
{% endcontent-ref %}

## &#x20;Spend Shard to Mint a Fragment

Multiple Shard can be burnt to mint a single Key Fragment.&#x20;

**5 Shard = 1 Fragment**

See the Fragments page for more details:&#x20;

{% content-ref url="/pages/Pndb3wmz93z1uVZdcTyd" %}
[Key Fragments](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-vault/key-fragments)
{% endcontent-ref %}

## **Offer Shard to The Ledgerman**&#x20;

A mysterious being called The Ledgerman is collecting Shard to practice a curious form of alchemy. The earlier you offer your Shard to him, the more resources he can harvest, and the greater deal he might offer you.&#x20;

If you are intrigued by the Coinlander universe, but do not want to play during Season One, you can maximize your chances of success in later Seasons by offering your Shards to The Ledgerman.

**X Shard** **-> On-chain record of your offering (timestamp and qty)**&#x20;

# Seekers

![An Uncloaked Seeker Born of the Coin](/files/4oTjnKVRDtWi6SCXRTSR)

Seekers are an ERC721 NFT collection of Coinlander characters. Each has a collection of cosmetic variables, stats, and attributes, all stored on-chain.

Seekers are your membership passes to the Coinlander universe, as well as RPG-style character primitives that will be useful in future Coinlander game contracts, or can be used within other composable games compatible with ERC-721 tokens and the Seeker smart contracts.

# Minting Seekers

Seekers can be minted via one of two methods:&#x20;

1. Birthed by seizing The One Coin
2. Summoned directly from the Summoning Pool

## Birthing a Seeker&#x20;

Seize the One Coin and you're entitled to a birthed Seeker once the One Coin has been seized from you. These Seekers are deterministically stronger, starting with a higher cap on Attribute Points and Power. See the following pages for more information about how to seize the title of Coinlander and claim your rewards:&#x20;

{% content-ref url="/pages/XpwbWtAPj7T6b01ZoUHj" %}
[Seizing the One Coin](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-one-coin/seizing-the-one-coin)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/iAEGJlyZwLOBAMgq7QDU" %}
[Claiming Rewards](/coinlander-season-one-guide/the-one-coin/claiming-rewards)
{% endcontent-ref %}

## Summoning a Seeker&#x20;

Upon minting Holidays, Seekers become available for purchase at the Summoning Pool. These minting unlocks will operate as standard NFT mints on a first-come, first-serve basis.

<table><thead><tr><th>Seizure #</th><th width="221.21971252566738">Holiday</th><th>Quantity</th><th>Price (Eth) </th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>333</td><td>Seeker Release #1</td><td>5000</td><td>0.05</td></tr><tr><td>666</td><td>Seeker Release #2</td><td>3333</td><td>0.08</td></tr><tr><td>777</td><td>Seeker Release #3</td><td>220</td><td>0.1</td></tr><tr><td>778-1111</td><td>Trickle on each seizure</td><td>4</td><td>0.1</td></tr></tbody></table>

The remaining 111 Seekers are set aside for the Keepers to be used for community incentives and giveaways.&#x20;

# Cloaking your Seeker

All Seekers begin uncloaked, their true nature hidden from the world and even themselves. Cloaking your Seeker is the mechanism by which the fiber of their character is revealed.&#x20;

The Cloaking Ceremony takes place at seizure #444. At this point, and at any time afterwards, an owner of a Seeker may choose to Cloak any number of their Seeker(s) and reveal further characteristics and qualities of the NFT.&#x20;

Cloaking is a one-way reveal which randomly assigns the following:&#x20;

* Alignment&#x20;
* Attribute Points: α, β, γ, and δ
* Dethscale seed&#x20;

Attributes like Power, Birth status, and Clan Declaration are left untouched by the ceremony.&#x20;

# Seeker Attributes

Seekers have a number of on-chain attributes.&#x20;

**Attributes assigned on mint:**

* Birth Origin
* [Power](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/seeker-attributes/seeker-power)
* [Clan](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/declaration-to-a-clan)

**Attributes assigned when cloaked:**&#x20;

* [Alignment](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/seeker-attributes/alignment)
* Four [Attribute Points](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/seeker-attributes/attribute-points): α, β, γ, and δ
* [Dethscales](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/seeker-attributes/dethscales)

# Alignment

Those familiar with fantasy role-playing games will recognize the alignment grid similarly native to Coinlander. A Seeker's alignment is revealed when they are [Cloaked](/coinlander-season-one-guide/seekers/cloaking-your-seeker).&#x20;

The alignment of a Seeker determines the density and noise in its cloak's Dethscale pattern.&#x20;

![](/files/pU6t0BN5hcUoQZ9xY3GT)

## Alignment-specific Events

Between seizures 666 and 777, any cloaked Seeker will automatically be assigned a random EVIL alignment.&#x20;

Between seizures 777 and 888, any Seeker cloaked will automatically be assigned a random GOOD alignment.&#x20;

# Attribute Points

Seekers have four Attributes revealed during Cloaking, α, β, γ, and δ. Each of these four attribute points are randomly assigned within a range.&#x20;

For Summoned Seekers, the four points can range between 10 and 23 with a minimum sum of 50.&#x20;

For Birthed Seekers, the four points can range between 15 and 25, with no maximum.

Each of the four attributes is represented as a rune; increasing in strength with greater value. These runes sum into an Attribute Rune reflected on the Seeker artwork:&#x20;

&#x20;

![](/files/RepSvsebCwZr0LViKe6p)

# Dethscales

Dethscales represent regions of immutability in a Seeker's cloak. Whereas other pixels on the Seeker's cloak are customizable, these pixels are dead and cannot be modified by a Seeker.&#x20;

A 4x4 pixel seed pattern is generated on-chain when a Seeker is Cloaked. These seeds are repeated in a 32x32 grid to create the full Cloak pattern.

The number of dethscales in the seed scales on the Good -> Evil axis. The more Evil your Seeker’s alignment, the greater the number of dethscales.

The amount of noise injected into the full cloak pattern scales on the Lawful -> Chaotic axis. The more Chaotic your Seeker’s alignment, the more noise in the cloak’s pattern.

**Example of Lawful Good**

![](/files/nyT4gLoq0F3CKgLAJ4Ny)

**Example of Chaotic Evil**

![](/files/YB3ZKYSsiLQK8J2gxbVi)

## **Rare Seeker Cloaks**

For 5% of Cloaked Good and Evil Seekers, the density of their dethscale pattern will be flipped. Thus, it is possible (yet unlikely), to have an Evil Seeker whose cloak pattern will have very few, or a Good Seeker whose cloak has many dethscales. &#x20;

# Seeker Power

Seeker Power sets the Seeker's level. A Seeker's Level scales with powers of 2. At higher levels, Seekers can modify the representation of their cloak with greater control and aptitude. Seekers start with Power dependent on how it was minted.&#x20;

Summoned Seekers start with 3 Power (Level 1)&#x20;

Birthed Seekers start with 5 Power (Level 2)

Seeker Power can be increased by burning Shard for power. 1 Shard = 8 Power&#x20;

Seeker Power can be burnt to re-roll the dethscale pattern. Each re-roll costs 1 Power.

| Power | Level |
| ----- | ----- |
| 2     | 1     |
| 4     | 2     |
| 8     | 3     |
| 16    | 4     |
| 32    | 5     |
| 64    | 6     |
| 128   | 7     |
| 256   | 8     |
| 512   | 9     |
| 1024  | 10    |

# Customization

The Seeker artwork is immutable on-chain via the Cloak pattern. However, a player can begin to take control of how this artwork manifests in greater ways with greater Seeker Power.&#x20;

Starting at Level 1, Seekers gain the ability to change the color of their Cloak's pattern. At Level 2, Seekers can change the inside stitching color of their Seeker.

What kinds of customization will be unlocked at greater Power Levels?&#x20;

# Declaration to a Clan

In the future, Seekers will be capable of banding together to achieve collective, in-game goals. A Seeker owner can declare a Seeker for a clan by specifying the Clan's address.

Stay tuned...

# The Vault

The Vault stores the Prize Pool; excess power accumulated from the awakening of the Coinlander. At the Sweet Release, the Prize Pool will become available for claiming by a player with each of the 8 key fragments.&#x20;

**It will be worth 64 ETH!**&#x20;

# Key Fragments

Key Fragments are minted by burning Shard:&#x20;

{% content-ref url="/pages/OtG73w8R0iO4V7G6ziTr" %}
[Spending Shard](/coinlander-season-one-guide/shard/spending-shard)
{% endcontent-ref %}

When minting a Key Fragment, you are assigned a random one of eight possible options of varying rarity. The maximum number of all Key Fragments is 1111 but they are not evenly distributed.&#x20;

These Key Fragments exist as SFTs and are able to be purchased/traded/collected as such.

**There are:**&#x20;

| Fragment Type | Max Quantity |
| ------------- | ------------ |
| 1             | 3            |
| 2             | 10           |
| 3             | 10           |
| 4             | 50           |
| 5             | 100          |
| 6             | 111          |
| 7             | 222          |
| 8             | 605          |

&#x20;&#x20;

# Unlocking the Vault

A worthy player may unlock the Vault and claim the Prize if the following conditions are met:&#x20;

* The Sweet Release has occurred&#x20;
* The player has at least one of each of the 8 Key Fragment types, comprising a full Key
* The Prize has not yet been claimed&#x20;

The Player who first uses their Key Fragments to win the prize pool is able to mint the Key Token (a collectible NFT) and is transferred the balance of the Prize pool, 64 ETH.&#x20;

&#x20;

# The Games

Season One is intended to be a fully on-chain, complete-at-launch community experience that seeds the initial Coinlander community and collectible tokens.

Depending on community enthusiasm, the Keepers may launch additional games designed to interoperate with the Seekers.

However! We built Coinlander on the Ethereum blockchain because we believe in the value *composability*. We welcome anyone to build games (or anything else!) that interoperate with the Seekers or other NFTs.

It's time to build!
